Our earlier theory that both “Swartz” (David’s paternal family name) and “Swartzendruber” (my maternal family line) derived from the Black Forest (i.e. Schwarzwald) doesn’t really seem to be holding up. But the Black Forest is still a great place to hike, eat cake, and toss a frisbee around in old castles:
